Favorite Time of Year

Posted Nov 3 2014, 12:01 am in , ,

Happy November!

This is my birthday month and to celebrate I’m giving away prizes! First, a $100 Amazon or B&N gift card – all you hafta do is either be on my mailing or sign up before the 30th – and second, I’ll be giving away winner’s choice of any of my titles, plus a $5 gift card at random to folks who leave a comment on one of my posts. I’ll be blogging periodically throughout the month, sometimes here and sometimes on other sites, so be sure and watch to see where I land next… 🙂

But today I’m kicking things off by talking about favorite times of year… What’s yours? Is it winter, with Christmas lights, snowmen and hot toddies? What about spring when everything *springs* back to life?  Or it is summer with school vacations, swimming suits and baseball?

Me? My favorite is autumn. Loooooove autumn! I love the shorter days and longer nights (Did y’all remember to turn your clocks back this past weekend?), the crisp but not yet cold air, breaking out my fuzzy jammies and snuggling on the couch with my honey. 😉

I know some people aren’t so crazy about the months leading into winter. They protest that all the plants and trees *die.* But nothing dies – everything just gets ready for a nice, long sleep. (And what sane adult wouldn’t want to sleep for months on end?) Besides if the plants and trees didn’t *die,* then you wouldn’t have my most favorite part of fall—the colors.

I remember the glorious abundance of reds, yellows and oranges from growing up in the Midwest. I now reside in the high, dry desert region of the Sierra Mountains with fall colors that are more often shades of yellow and gold…

…that doesn’t mean we don’t get pops of brilliant color…

fall 2

fall 4

And while we don’t have a huge volume of rich and dazzling fall colors, the desert offers other beauty…

   Whatcha think? 😉

Remember to share your favorite time of year and why for the chance to win one of my  titles and a $5 GC. And don’t forget to signup for my mailing list (if you haven’t already) for the chance at a $100 gift card. (And be sure to leave your email addy with your comment…)

Until next time – Happy Reading!

Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I agree, this is my favorite time of year…I’ve just put up my Halloween accessories (being an author of a Paranormal-Romance Series about good vampires protecting their human friends, I often do a lot on Halloween). And this time of year is the first relief from our Triple-Digit Summer Temperatures. Rarely do we get any rain, let alone snow but at least once each Winter we’ll get a layer of ice on the roads that lasts a week or more (unfortunately locals haven’t a clue how to drive on it). But this time of year, when it cools off at night and normally stays below 90 in daylight is the BEST SLEEPING WEATHER (including for vampires). LOL

Happy Birthday, Lynda. My favorite season is spring, when everything is renewed, the weather starts to warm up after the cold winter, and the days start getting longer.

Lynda have a ‘Happy Birthday.’ I love this time of the year with the changing climate and the beautiful change of the colors of the trees as you showed in your photos. All that is left to do is to sit back with a good book to read. Thank you for this chance to win.

Happy Birthday to a fellow scorpion! Maybe that’s why we really appreciate the fall and all it’s glorious color. Have you noticed that beautiful color is mimicked in the late-blooming flowers along with the most glorious purple and hot pinks of fall blooms? Sounds like it all clashes, but they really work together, and that vibrant blue sky above just brings those colors out!

Pumpkins, gourds, and mums… Who wouldn’t love fall? Crispy days and chilly nights, mean it’s time to start baking again. Cinnamon and crispy apples, the house comes alive with all the wonderful scents. Gathering pecans and roasting chestnuts all go with the season. Wool sweaters and slacks, warm fuzzy socks, shearling/sheepskin boots and coats, I love, love, love the autumn!

    Happy Birthday!

  12. SharonML says:

For me, it’s summer and all the scents of the flowers and the trees and the beach and the water.

  13. JoAnne Myers says:

Hello and those photos are beautiful. I also enjoy the fall. Some feel it is depressing because of the leaves falling from the trees and the impeding winter. I disagree. The fall colors, gold, reds, and oranges, not just the trees, but clothing in general are lovely to see, and give me a warm feeling. I love wearing sweaters, boots, jackets and corduroy. Fall is the start of hot chocolate time, fireplaces, bonfires with friends, snuggling at night to stay warm. All the good stuff we all crave. So the next time you hear a complaint about fall, just say “bah, humbug to you.” Happy birthday and good luck with your writings.

As much as I love the crisp air and brilliant colors of fall, I like Spring even more. After the cold and wet months of winter in New England, there’s nothing as exciting as the first crocus poking through the snow!

  20. I love spring. I finally defrost from the winter. I would love the autumn colors. I saw it once in MA for my brother’s wedding but here we have a little cold, a lot of hot and a month of spring:D

I do love summer because the warm weather lends itself to
lazy days by the beach or pool. And that means lots of reading and people watching, too.
